  • Biography: A Pennsylvania native, Moore graduated from the College of Pennsylvania and became a businessman alongside his brother, before entering state politics shortly before the Revolutionary War. Moore was present at the First Continental Congress, however resigned in order to enlist in the military. Moore served under Washington at the Battles of Trenton and Princeton, where he achieved the rank of Major General, before taking a position in the Congressional Board of War in 1777. After the war Moore was present at the United States Constitutional Convention in 1787, and was elected President of Pennsylvania (which later became the office of Governor) the following year. Having served two terms, Moore ran successfully for the United States senate in 1795.

  • Biography: John Pierce was born in Portsmouth in 1741 to a family of moderately wealthy business owners, who emmigrated to the colonies in the mid 1600s. Pierce became the captain of a cargo ship, allowing him to sail throughout the British Empire. British policies would turn him into an adamant supporter of the revolution, and was a member of the Continental Congress. He left in order to help manage the maritime war effort, overseeing the construction of the US navy, and also taking place in the war as a soldier in 1777. He was later elected to the Senate after the war.
