Ming China[]

After suffering from a previous invasion by the Oirat Khanate, China launched a revenge attack on the Oirat Khanate in 1451, quickly storming the area before taking it by 1453. Parts of the area were given to Manchuria for its help in the war. After the destruction of the Khanate, China consolidated its territory, building the area up and assimilating the Oirat people into the Chinese culture.

During the time of consolidations, China made numerous strides in shipbuilding, building its navy back up, which had previously been largely dismantled. By 1500, the Chinese navy had surpassed its record set earlier in the Ming dynasty. Despite this, China did not have naval warfare, save for fighting off pirates. The Chinese trade with Europe was disrupted by the Hashemite Khanate.

Due to this, methods of transporting products were searched for by the Chinese and Europeans alike. When the trade routes were discovered, however, China had become largely isolationist. For much of the 16th century, Ming China had limited European trade. The empire built up its military drastically for a war with the Incan empire, though, upon the Incan's vassalization by the Scandenavians, China postponed its war. As of 1615, there are no plans to launch the war.

Around 1590, the Tànxiǎn Emperor assumed the Chinese throne. Quickly, the Chinese trade routes expanded. When Formosa began to fall, they requested to be placed under Chinese management. This, along with a new method of mass producing silk, opened a massive influx of wealth and prosperity to China. Cities like Beijing and Shanghai began to grow. The economies near China, especially Laos and Dai Vet, could not compete with China and became vassals of the Chinese Empire.

Military[]

Army & Marines[]

The massive Chinese population allows for a massive army. Fears of invasions by other Khanates led to early buildup of Chinese military assets, but the falling Khanates have since proven to have unhostile intentions, resulting in the army portion of China losing numbers in the late 15th century. During the 16th century, China expanded its empire in hopes of conquering the Incan lands in hopes of gold. This led to a massive surge of voluntary military involvement... and a prejudice against South Americans. While both crazes have somewhat died down, the army and marines of China both remain massive bodies.

Navy[]

The Chinese Navy was the pride of the early Ming Dynasty, exploring distant lands. During the Khanate invasions and other Chinese Emperors' policies, the navy fell into disrepair during the 15th century, being terrorized by Japanese pirates. In the late 15th century, the Chinese navy was rebuilt, eventually surpassing its former numbers by 1500. The Chinese Navy remained powerful throughout the 16th century. With the increase in merchantalism, the Chinese Navy has become an important body for trading as well as escorting ships to prevent piracy and attacks on trade ships. As of 1615, the Chinese Armada remains a magnificent, yet terrifying, asset of the Chinese.

Vassals and Overseas Territories[]

Colonies[]

  • Dongfang: A trade port in OTL Honolulu, Dongfang is a crucial halfway point for ships crossing the Pacific. Roughly half of all ships travelling through the Pacific Ocean dock at Dongfang to restock supplies, rest, and, in some cases, drop off troublesome shipmates. A reported 15% of Dongfang citizens are, or are descended from, abandoned sailors. The city of Dongfang is a surprisingly high populated area with the southern port being a middle-to-upper class area and the northern area being a low-class port.
The southern port is luxurious, beautiful, and lavish. Wealthy merchants and fleets are welcome in the   southern port. The residents of southern Dongfang are noted for being snobby landowners and entrepreneurs. Estates on the Big Island have been owned by private landowners for some time, but it wasn't until 1616 when these areas were formally annexed by the colony of Dongfang.
