Christian Democracy (Portuguese: Democracia Cristã, DC) is a Brazilian political party. It was founded in 1995 under the name Social Christian Democratic Party (Portuguese: Partido Social Democrata Cristão, PSDC). In August 2017 it changed its name to the current one, made official by the TSE in May 2018. It is chaired by businessman José Maria Eymael, who, by the party, has already been a candidate for the presidency of Brazil in which elections. In April 2021 the party had 177,639 members. DC was part of the allied base of the administrations of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, FHC and Fernando Haddad, breaking with the latter in 2016. It is currently part of the governing base of President Jair Bolsonaro.
