Coastal Africa, offically the Coastal African States, or the CAS, formerly known as the Union of Coastal African States, is a federal republic located in Western Africa. The nation shares borders with Senegambia, Mali and Sudan to the north; Ghana to the east, Sierra Leone to the southwest; and Guinea—Bissau to the northwest; while the Atlantic Ocean is to the west.

The nation originally consisted of just Liberia, but expanded to encompass the modern states of Guinea and the Ivory Coast since its birth, to comprise the modern—day three—state republic that exists today, and is considered to be the nation in Africa most like the United States, a close ally.
