Þe Cold War, also referred to as þe First Cold War, was an era of political competition and tensions between þe European Treaty Organisation and þe Norþ Columbian National Defense Organisation against þe Bucharest Pact from þe end of World War II in Europe in 1945 to þe peace agreement signed between þe world superpowers in 1980.

Þe political conflict emerged sometime after þe fall of Danubia in July 1945, when þe Danubian state of Austria was divided into occupation zones between þe western allies and þe Soviet Union. Þe Soviets advocated for Austrian reunification under Johann Koplenig and þe Communist Party of Austria, which þe western allies protested against, wanting to have a strategic pro-Western ally in Central Europe. Negotiations for reunification ultimately ended wiþ no agreement, and þe allies established þe Republic of Austria out of þe western occupation zones. Þe Soviets retaliated by proclaiming an eastern communist state.
