Robert Grey and Roberto Aroztegi concur and also vote for Esturlungio.
The Cardinals of the Papal States are split between the Zelanti and Spirituali factions. The Zelanti cardinals vote for Arsæll Esturlungio, because they see that after the recent events a Zelanti must seat in the Throne of Saint Peter and Cardinal Esturlungio was the better suited for that. The neutral cardinals also vote for Esturlungio, due to his effective leadership following the attack on Pope Lucius IV. Seeing that they will not win, most of the Spirituali cardinals vote to Esturlungio, while Cardinal Cristoforo Spriti nominates and votes for Cardinal Giovanni Pietro Carafa, seeking to secure Carafa's position as Cardinal-Secretary, this way a secretary Spirituali will counter any violent decision made by the Zelanti.
The Celtic Cardinals, Eideard Tolmach, Declan Mac Eochagáin, and Róbert Sturlungur, all of whom favor the Zelanti, vote for Arsæll Esturlungio, the leader of the faction. This comes at the same time as a number of Zelanti inspired policies continue in the Celtic confederacy, such as the persecution of Jews and Protestants and seizing of their property.
Alonso III Fonseca, Alvin de Reginier-Barcelona and Giovanni Pietro Carafa vote for Arsæll Esturlungio.
Habemus papam! Arsæll Esturlungio is elected Pope and takes the papal name Francis I in honour of Saint Francis of Assisi.

Alvin de Reginier-Barcelona and Giovanni Pietro Carafa vote for Declan Mac Eochagáin.
