The Colombian Congressional elections of 1986 were conducted on May 25, 1986, to elect 400 Deputies and 160 Senators to the Congress of Colombia. The Republican Party improved upon its 1980 showing, seizing a simple majority in the Chamber of Deputies (thus ending their coalition with the Christian Democrats and Colombian Revolutionary Movement) and gaining 32 Senators (against 20 PS Senators lost and 12 PDC Senators lost) to take a majority of 86 Senators. The 32-seat gain in the Senate was the largest single electoral gain in the Chamber of the Senate's history.

With both Chambers falling into full control of the PR for the first time in history, along with the electoral victory of incumbent President Rafael Villana in the concurrent Presidential election, led to 1986 being referred to as the Year of the Republican Party.
