Introduction

The State of the World

This is the year 1746. The Age of Britain has come, as Great Britain has come to a whole and continue to grow with colonies in the Americas and in Asia. The Agricultural Revolution starts in the UK, paving the way for industrial progress and having profound effects on almost every country in the world. The last battle fought on British soil of history has been ended, with the British defeating the Scots under Stuart Pretender Prince Charles at Culloden Moor.

The Spaniards were recently defeated by Great Britain in the War of the Spanish Succession, but they still own more colonies than any other nation and are still a force to be respected. Portugal is no longer at its peak, although still powerful.

Austria, under the Hapsburg Dynasty, grows stronger while Russia also rapidly strengthens and westernizes under Peter the Great. St, Petersburg is founded by the great Tsar, Peter the Great. Prussia grows under Frederick the Great, greatly expanding its territory.

Respective European colonies in North America begin to prosper, and the Caribbean is started to be settled and set up with sugar plantations. The Marathas are begin to gain power in India, and Quinlong - the emperor of China - brings the country to a very prosperous state.

The Ottoman Empire is no longer what it once was - unrest is building and the empire is starting to show its age - yet it is still an important regional power. The Persian empire is going strong under Nadir Shah. The French remain powerful, having a more built up navy and promoting stability, although there is some resentment from the working class.

Korea is getting stronger in its military, and are itching to conquer new land and territory. At the same time, they are aware of other countries in the world and are not hostile to those other countries.

The Age of Enlightenment continues on with Issac Newton and Voltaire, Carl Linneaus and Denis Diderot. This is an age where knowledge will be spread, where wars will be fault. Blood will be shed, and society - the very bottom of it - will shudder under the weight of the changes to come.

The Rebirth of Colonial World

Hey there,

I started Colonial World (Map Game) a while ago, and although it saw some good levels of activity and we had some fun, it gradually descended into ASB-ness with some implausible events occurring and some arguments stemming from it - countries grew very unstable and were too hostile.

Colonial World Rebooted will get rid of the ineffective Point system which caused some countries to be more powerful, and countries that were not played became too weak - Savoy does not simply conquer Prussia and Free Poland simultaneously within a one-year period.

Have Fun, Build Up Your Nation, Discover New Ideas and Pursue New Goals. Oh, and don't forget to colonize. It's called Colonial World for a reason after all.

Rules

One may not change countries or possess more than one country. If your country is defeated/no longer exists/annexed/has been reduced to an ocean of bloodshed and disaster, you may chose a new country.
Sockpuppeting is strictly forbidden. Any offenders will be banned immediately.
Breaking the rules give you a warning. One warning = can't play for one round. Three warnings = banned forever.
Countries in bold are important, require 100+ edits to play, countries bold and underlined are very important, require 1000+ edits to play. This rule can be lifted if you PM the creator - me - about it and if I deem that you are worthy of this great responsibility.
If you're a mod, you're expected not to break the rules. Breaking the rules as a mod more than twice degrades you to a regular player.

These ~~people~~ ~~animals~~ hideous creatures have committed an offence four or more times despite them having been banned three times already. They are sentenced to eternal punishment. They are the people in our society who "accidentally press the nuclear launch buttons". Feel free to place them in a garbage bag and place that bag in the community pool where our community crocodile, Phillip lives in.

The Game

1746

Colonial World Rebooted, has started.

This year, the African region is unexpectedly dry and the nations there are severely weakened with widespread famine and hunger.

There is some discontent in the Thirteen Colonies in OTL USA about British rule.

There is a revolt in OTL Greece in the Ottoman Empire.

Saxony: We improve our and Poland's infrastructure and offer an alliance to Prussia and Venice. We also want trade agreements with Prussia, Denmark-Norway and the Netherlands. We also modernize our and Poland's (our partner in personal union) army. We'd also like to establish a colony in western Africa, but as we lack the technology, ~~we ask Venice to help us in our colonization program.~~

Venetian Dip: We accept the alliance.

Saxony is too small of a country to invest in colonies. There is not enough of a population that can or will travel overseas. Rather that colonization, Saxony should be focused on internal HRE affairs and expansion within the HRE, not colonization. Saturn120 11:26, September 3, 2015 (UTC)

Electorate of Bavaria: We improve and recruit more men into our standing army, we improve our infrastructure in our most populous areas, and we offer an alliance and multiple trade agreements with Saxony and Austria.

Venice: We improve our infrastructure, we start sending out colonists and explorers to west Africa. We also offer a trade agreement to the Spanish Empire and the Chinese and we recruit more people for the military and navy. We offer Saxony an alliance.

This is implausible. Venice had a fair amount of navy and was pretty strong, but it was only built to travel near land and in the Mediterranean sea. Sending them out to colonize West Africa is reasonable, but to South Africa, let alone Australia, would be ridiculous. -Captainjohnrex

This is absolutely implausible. Korea's navy, Joseon Navy, was only built for protecting Korea from Japanese Pirates and invasions. They were built to stay around Korea and near land, meaning it would be nearly impossible for them to row out of the East China sea, let alone, the rest of South East Asia. Furthermore, Korea did not have ambitions to expand and even if they did, they would be under the pressure of the Quin Empire, China -Captainjohnrex

Ottoman Empire: Since the reign of Mahmud I, many loyal Ottoman men have seen his ambitions on expanding the empire at a reckless and merciless way. After the war with Persia (1743-1746), many of his men has turned against our emperor. When Mahmud declared to his people his ambitions in Russia and Austria, many were angered by his desires and sought a coup since the empire had continuously declined in power since 1571. On the cold November night of 1746, it was said that Mahmud died of stroke and Mustafa III took place. However, we do not know the exact reasons of the death of our shameful emperor. Having much hope in the new leader, Mustafa, who is only 29 years old. On the December of 1946, he declares to the empire that he will strengthen the Empire again, guarantee more freedom to people, increase life expectancy and decrease poverty/famine, and adapt human rights just like Cyrus the great, a new idol of the Ottoman empire. This year, we increase our economy by opening trades. We ask treaties with Persia, Russia, and Austria. We also ask to trade with European countries and possibly, the isolated China. ~~Instead of crushing the protest in Greece, we ask for negotiations/talks~~, along with the mass spread of propaganda.

There were only a few hundred people involved in the revolt - the Ottomans would not negotiate with a few unruly citizens, but instead just put the revolution down. However, propaganda is plausible so I have not crossed out that. - RCC

Austrian Empire: Maria Theresa is the Archduchess of Austria, and intends on expanding the Empire. In doing so, we declare war on the Bishopry of Trent, trying to capture some Italian land. We ask Prussia for an alliance. We improve our military and increase education in the Habsburg Empire. We ask Venice to mary off one of Maria Theresa's daughters to a prince and for an NAP.

Portugal: José I of Portugal improves relations with Britain (who is allies with us). We expand deep into the western areas of Brazil. We also expand southward from Benguela and west from Mozambique, attacking the Lundu tribes with 10,000 troops. We build our infrastructure up as well as our economy and try to become a bigger world power.

Saxony Dip: We'd like to open trade with your nation on behalf on His Majesty Frederick Augustus II, by the grace of God Prince-Elector of Saxony and King of Poland and Lithuania.

France: We build our military and infrastructure. We build our army and Navy. We build more houses and better facilities in the country, this means that our people are now more pro French monarch. We expand in Westwards in North America, expanding ~~3500 pixels~~, defeating native people as we go along. We promise the conquered natives good houses and good life under French lives. We decide to ban slavery throughout the empire, saying that this is inhuman. We free all slaves under our rule. We stand that we are worst enemies against the dirty British and wish for it to be under our control in the future. We launch the European Alliance (Colonial World) which hates the dirty British and has to free all slaves. We also begin an invasion of Western Africa, expanding ~~1000 pixels~~ into it. We promise to all natives that you will have an adequate life under French rule. We make it law that whenever somebody mentions the British, you would have to say dirty in front of it.

France, are you sure you want to abolish slavery? Your empire is based on trade and your colonies and slaves are very important to your stability and prosperity. You will be receiving consequences next year as a result of this action. -RCC

Britain: We take the French threat as nothing. The abandonment of slavery will naturally destroy the French economy and we are therefore not worried about the,. We also send 10 minor fleets with a total of 20,000 men towards Africa to conquer new colonies. We colonize as many African colonies as possible (Specific ones to be decided my mod, please be reasonable, as the British did have the majority of African colonies, at least 10 colonies, since we sent 10 fleets, the British had around 30 colonies in Africa) We also move our main fleet towards the English Channel and prepare for combat against France, while we send one small fleet towards the Americas and one into the North Sea. We improve our military power this year by investing more on the training of our troops while we continue developing new naval equipment as well as artillery for both land and naval combat. We also send 40,000 men towards London and Whales to prepare for French attacks. We also improve our infrastructure this year to prevent an outbreak of sicknesses. We also encourage countries not the join the French alliance as it is completely nuts. They are PURE IDEALIST and not REALISTS. The abandonment of slavery sounds ideal while it will CRASH the French economy. The French has more slaves than Britain at this time and it is suicidal to their economy to do this.

We also send 10,000 troops to London and 5,000 troops to Wales to join the British troops already stationed there in case of a French attack. We discuss with Britain and her allies whether or not we should attack France. Sweden: We request an alliance with Spain, Portugal and the Qing Empire. We also send 20,000 troops to colonise the southern parts of Africa and Madagascar too. We send another 40,000 troops to colonise South-East Asia. ~~We give 3 of our colonies to Britain for free, in hope that our ties will strengthen.~~

Venice: We colonise Liberia and we deal with internal issues and corruption in the government. We hastily defeat the natives in Liberia. We start building infrastructure in Venetian Liberia and we send a fair bit of our navy to defend our colony. We also propose an alliance and trade agreement with Britain, Portugal and the Netherlands. We also start converting the African natives in Liberia to Christianity.

Spain: Economy, infrastructure and military improves. Population continues to grow slowly fast. More houses, shops and mining plants are built. Continues to plan new reforms and continues investing heavily in technology and science. Roads and farms are improved and cities continue to grow. Spain accepts alliance and trade agreement with Britain.

France, after freeing all its slaves, receives a large drop in its economy and there are riots all over France, especially by those who had made their living through slavery.

Freeing slaves is quite implausible, rebellions and riots are common.

The French West Indies see several slave-led revolutions, and the Frenchmen are killed there. France has lost most of the French West Indies. Mass unrest in other French colonies all over the world. The slaves are extremely happy to finally get rid of French rule, but many Frenchmen are unhappy with the king.

Under the new king, the Ottoman Empire prospers and revolutionaries have dissapeared for the time being.

Venice's new colony in Liberia manages to last its first 6 months, though they are running out of supplies and are unfamiliar with the African landscape.

Russia is also expanding its empire, and getting more engaged in European affairs.

The British have successfully launched a chain of 7 small colonies in present day Mauritania and Western Sahara. One of the ships have been sunk by a wave, one of the ships' colonisers were killed by natives, while another one was hijacked by some pirates and is nowhere to be found.

Around 100 soldiers from Denmark-Norway are found by Swedish troops in Swedish borders, and there is a small skirmish. After some casualties on both sides, the soldiers from Denmark-Norway returns.

The Safavid Empire and Oman fought a small naval battle, with Oman emerging victorious though both sides' outdated navy suffering heavy losses.

Savoy and Genoa has signed an alliance to help each other if either is attacked.

Venice: We send new supplies to our Liberian colony in exchange for new resources and valuable trade items from Liberia. We also send an explorer in Liberia to teach the residents about the Liberian landscape, weather and wildlife.

Just to remind you Venice, you navy is not built for long distance journeys. You colony is liberia was a bad mistake... You might lose it in the next three years or so... -Cap

Saxony:W e continue improving our infrastructure and army, we begin building a fort in Paderborn, we continue the invasion of Anhalt-Dessau and Anhalt-Zerbst and accept the alliance eith Swedem. We withdraw our trade proposal to the Netherlands and propose an alliance with the United Kingdom.

Poland-Lithuania: We announce a cultural shift towards painted churches, due to Jeremy Mohyła, originally from Moldavia, being named Head of the Sejm (Parliament). We begin considering Moldavia, now controlled by the Ottomans, an integral part of our nation. We also continue improving our infrastructure and army and begin modernising our navy.

Ottoman: We declare that we don not wish for war but if any nation declaring that any of our great ottoman land is theirs, they do want conflict. Shunning Poland-Lithuania, we increase our economy this year by opening trades with Britain. We ask if Britain would like a treaty with us. Sanitation has improved this year and many have seen great hopes for our new leader. We spread propaganda in Ottomans and tell them the great privilleges of being part of the great empire. We ask if the Omans would like to be a a vassal of the Ottoman empire, which will help them fend off the ambitious Persians. We also ask Ethiopia, Sennar, Morocco, Liberia, Zanzibar, Mozambique, Marina (madagascar), Darfur, Wadai, Bornu, Bedouins at Saudi, small states beside the red sea, and somali states to be part of the great empire. [Need MOD responses]. We state that they would still be able to set up and control their own state laws and people but will have to be under the influence of Ottoman ideologies and nation's law. Religion will be free of choices and discrimination will not happen under the Empires protection. The Ottoman Empire is looking forward with the responses of the requested nations and remind them that they really have no choice ...

Ethiopia: Agrees (but is not happy about it).

Absolutely implausible. Sweden had a weak navy and even Britain would not travel to Asia to colonise there yet. Let alone Sweden! -Cap

(Mod) Denmark-Norway does not agree to an alliance, but does sign an armistice for five years.

Ottoman Dip: We are happy that most agreed. We influence those nations that are not sure of being part of the great empire and assure them peace and great sanitation. An army of 500,000 was sent to colonise the Bedouins at Saudi. However, the Ottoman Empire is furious at those we disagree and warn Venice and Portugal to give their colonies. We are particularly angry at Wadai, Bronu and Morocco and declare to them that they will have a second choice on their ridiculous decisions. We restate that under the great Ottomans, peace and prosperity, along with sanitation will improve. Nations will be free of outside rulers who may destroy valuable cultures. We mass spread propaganda in the new states of Ottoman Empire.

Morocco: We are an independent nation - we have already driven out the British and the Spanish, we are not afraid of the Ottoman Empire. We are very happy with our sanitation levels already.

Saxony Dip: We apologise for our partner in personal union. We have no intentions to aggress your nation. We will see that Poland is not making foreign policies without our consent.

Great Britain: Our fleets expedition to the Americas seem to be going well, they are still on their way with little problems. We have successfully occupied the North Sea as there was little resistance there while our main fleet has advanced into the English Channel. We send another five minor fleets towards Africa to conquer more colonies while we spread propaganda and help out our new colonies as a spread love, care and show the citizens there the benefits of being under British rule. We hope that they see the benefits and are happy to be ruled by us, we promise them fair trade and fair treatment of slaves, while we do not free them. Our navy and army has also strengthened considerable from our developments and improvements made last year, we continue to build better and stronger navy, better artillery and better train our men. While we enforce a new law that ALL men at the age of 18 must enter army service for three years, massively increasing our army numbers. Our economy also increases to prosper as we have started trade with the Ottoman Empire while our new long terms plans are starting to take action. We are also still trying to improve our infrastructure from last year and continue this ten-year project. Lastly, with our increased numbers we launch a full scale attack on France on Breast and Picardy, we transport a total of 2.5 million men along with our main navy. We take France's treason as well as their great economic downfall as a great opportunity for attack. We also send another minor fleet into the North Sea to secure it better along with another two minors out to the Irish Seas to watch our back carefully. We also ask countries NOT to aid France or serious consequences will follow.

Lastly, we ask to be allowed to open trade with other European nations, such as Spain, Prussia, and Italian states, as long as they do not come into conflict with the British. We begin to build up our economy, focusing on cities, such as Boston, New York, and Philadelphia, were we believe changes can effect more people. We begin to increase the size of our militias, and start to stock weapons in hidden stores, mostly farther inland.

Also, to the Americans, we will grant you a larger amount of independence, and we will also allow you to expand west under the terms that you remain a colony of the British. (so expanded areas will also be British, though the more you expand, the more you will gain, because we will take some goods and wealth off you, but still let you keep a large portion) In other words, goods and wealth must be sent to Britain to a certain degree, though we will let you keep some. We also implement new laws in the Americas for fair slaver treatment. Trade is allowed so long as they are allies of Britain, of Russia, Ottoman and maybe Saxony - as well as other allies in the future. Since your growth will also be our growth, the more you gain, the more we gain. However, trade with countries that are unwilling to create alliance with Britain or are at war against them is prohibited. We believe this is a lot fairer treatment and would like the Americans to stop rebellions.

France: Back at this time in history, France had MORE slaves than Britain. It made up most of your economy and freeing them would not only mean a HUGE drop in production, but also in the overall drop your entire industry and economy. A FAIR slave treatment would be more plausible as you still have those workers. A France without slaves at that time would CERTAINLY cause rebellions, as MANY people made living from the slave trade and no one wanted to do the dirty work the slaves did, so naturally slave owners and citizens won't be happy. France and Britain are having a great war, and the French economy continues to drop. There is growing discontent about the inability of the French government to defeat Britain, and morale in the French army is low. Citizens hope to re-establish slavery and to make peace with the British.

The American colonies have started in the game, and are making demands against the British.

The Ottoman Empire has a growing sphere of influence.

The Safavid Empire (Persia) has declared war on Oman after talks fell underway, and the navy of Oman was badly damaged in a naval encounter.

The British colony in New Providence has been sacked by pirates and is barely holding on.

Sweden and Denmark-Norway has managed to reach a peaceful agreement.

There is growing tension between Morocco and the Ottoman Empire and some Ottoman border guards were killed in a skirmish.

Saxony: We continue the improvement of our infrastructure and army. We send our heir, Frederick August to the British court in London, for him to both improve relations with the United Kingdom, and learn the way of a superior court. We occupy completely the states of Anhalt-Dessau and Anhalt-Zerbst and establish a vassal called 'Principality of Anhalt". We put pressure on Anhalt-Schaumburg-Hoym, Anhalt-Köthen and Anhalt-Bernburg to join this new state (MOD needed for Anhalt-Schaumburg-Hoym, Anhalt-Köthen and Anhalt-Bernburg).

Poland-Lithuania: We improve our army, infrastructure and navy. Growing discontent is shown by the cultural shift, with some families growing increasingly worried, while families like the Mohyłas keep growing stronger and stronger. Frederick August, not liking the growing discontent in Poland, makes a resolution and signs a constitution, which declares Jeremy Mohyła Lord Protector of Poland, but increases the rights of nobles. Many settlements in the mountains of southern Poland and the steppes of the Ukraine demand Wallachian Rights, which are granted. Many monasteries are built in similar fashion to the ones in Moldavia. Although not by the state itself, a group called the 'Bojowników Wołochów' (The Vlach Fighters) based in Kołomyja, in the Pokucie, at the border with Moldavia spreads propaganda calling for an exodus from Moldavia, while another group based in Bracław, also by the border, calls for rebellion against the border.
Anhalt: We begin to rebuild and accept suzerainty from Saxony.

British: We are confused with Saxony's settlement but would like to ask for more details about it as we believe it will be beneficial to both our countries and hope to get things clear as soon as possible. We are happy with our new alliances and we would also like to state that American Colonies are STILL British colonize, we have agreed on terms last year and we hope the Americans are happy to stay under those turns. We also send a another 10 minor fleets to support colonies within Africa, which should be more than enough to deal with the situations that happen there. We continue to send another 50,000 troops into Breast and Picardy and continue our war on France and declare that we will not stop until we seize victory in AT LEAST those two provinces. Our support received from Ottomans 2.5 million troops have also offered us GREAT success into our advancement into France, we support the Ottoman troops and fight alongside them as brothers in war and fight together with them until the end. This meant that there is a total of 4.5 MILLION troops in France along with a combined support of the MAIN BRITISH NAVY and MINOR OTTOMAN NAVY AGAINST THE EVER WEAKENING FRANCE.

We also continue to strengthen our army this year at RAPID paces. The war has inspired development and innovation among both our standard weaponry, navy, ships, artillery, etc. of BOTH the BRITISH AND OTTOMAN Army and Navy. This year has brought GREAT improvements to both our respective military powers and innovations as a whole.

Our economy has not prospered greatly but is also not under huge strains due to the fact that the French has become immensely weak and has become a weak target, this also means an increase of demand of British goods. Therefore boosting our economy and balancing out with our war cost, which means it won't affect our economy too much. Our new colonies and new trade bring great amounts of money, while our war spends huge amounts of building up of our military power too, so overall, they equally balance each other out, giving us a great advantage.

Saxony Dip: The settlement is to be allowed to have the name of 'New Dresden', which is to be allowed to have German and Polish as official languages. The colonists are a sign of friendship, for it means we want the alliance to continue.

Russian Empire: Russia, having received news of the British aid, confirms that the alliance is in place. (The problem with non-modern communication systems is that they tend to not transport messages quickly.) Having not received word from China, the Tsarevna gives up hope that they will get back to her. This will be remembered. The modernization will begin with steel production increases. Roads will be constructed and expanded within the vast empire, and the resources of Kazakhstan (which the war's page says has been colonized) begin to be exploited. Troops begin being moved to the easternmost end of the empire to prepare for colonizing Alaska.

Japan: We would like an alliance.
Russian Empire: The Tsarevna is quite surprised at the sudden and massive changes occurring in Japan, but will agree to the alliance nonetheless.

Qing Empire: We improve agricultural output per capita, and the food surplus causes our population to boom. We accept the trade agreement with Russia. We ask the British to help us modernise economically and militarily and in return they'll get the port cities of Hong Kong and Macau, and can develop extensive economic ties with us.

Japan: We offer an alliance with the Russian Empire. We build our military. We plan to make ourselves an empire. We begin building our infrastructure. We build many factories to sell many goods. We open ourselves to the world. We want to experience an Industrial Revolution.

Spain: Economy, infrastructure and military improves. Population continues to grow slowly fast. More houses, shops and mining plants are built. Continues to plan new reforms and continues investing heavily in technology and science. Roads and farms are improved and cities continue to grow. Spain accepts alliance and trade agreement from Venice. Seeing that Britain is currently winning against France in a great war, Spain begins it's mobilization, decides to join Britain's side and declares war on France, invading southern France and French West Africa. Accepts alliance offer from Britain.

Our new vassal states have become more peaceful and we are extremely happy that they are, therefore, we send finance to all our vassals and assure them peace. We are furious at Portugal for their plan of "Anti-Ottoman" plans and we state that they will be punished in the near future, further warning Venice, Spain, Austria to not to join the coalition. We further warn Persia if they continue to attack our vassal, Oman, they will reach consequences. Sanitation is improving in our country and we believe by 1760, our sanitation will improve by 20%. By 1800, sanitation will improve by 45%!

British Diplomacy: We would like to propose an alliance with Spain as we believe we could work well together against France, while you invade from Gascony and possibility Marseilles (Gascony is France and Spain's biggest shared border) and our invasion from Breast and Picardy (possibility even Paris if invasions go well) I believe we can easily win the French.

British Colonies: All infrastructure and health care is improved in our African, American, etc colonies. We hope they make the citizens of these colonies happier if we do so. We also offer the slaves and workers in our colonies a small portion of what they have worked for and fair treatment, therefore decreasing the number of rebellions. We also enforce our armies there as stated before and improve the economy situation in those colonies. We forbade them to have a military, however, and in return, we offer them protection from the British army, which they should be happy about because it is MUCH more reliable than their own.

As a war effort and a little request of help for all that we've done for the people in our colonies, we recruit army men from the African colonies saying that they will be very well fed and rewarded if they join the British army. We also state that any of our gains are also theirs as we also wish to help their economy develop. This is also a sign to them that we are not racist towards them and have the will to fight alongside them. This also gives them the choice to defend the British colonies or their own countries with stronger weapons and better training. As a result, many Africans are recruited as they see the benefit and are thankful, and they hence begin training and will be able to perform combat by next year. We increase our army numbers by the millions.

France and Britain are continuing to have their war and the French economy is near bankruptcy.

Netherlands cede north of France, Reims. However, Netherlands economy drops rapidly as they have banned slavery in their country, just like France.

Louis XV was murdered during a successful military coup and France's new leader, Marc René marquis de Montalembertand, raises the morale in the French army. Marc Rene re-establishes slavery and civilians have high hopes for the new leader. Many French colonies including those in Africa and America are growing unstable and may become independent soon.

The Ottoman Empire has expanded its influence, taken many small states their vassals. Their economy grows due to the increase of taxes, however, Morocco has mobilised its army ready for war. Not only that but Persia has started to mobilise and arm its borders between the Ottoman Empire. Some rebels in Greece has formed again.

The Safavid Empire (Persia) has successfully taken the northern coasts of Oman and will probably have their army move inland.
