Alternative History

Comic books are books or magazines of sequential art, usually accompanied by text in the form of narration or speech bubbles. Comics as a form of entertainment have experienced a boom in popularity after fall of communism in Russia and China and Transitional Justice carried out by them afterwards, and Japan's economic rise (including it's Japanese wave) in early 2000s.

Effects of Transitional Justice on Comics[]

The Transitional Justice program has had a significant impact on comics. Comics have been used as a medium to educate the public about the dangers of both communism and fascism, and the effects that both have on the human psyche. Comics are a powerful way to convey information, and they can be used to engage people in a way that mere words cannot. The Transitional Justice program has been instrumental in improving the quality and impact of comics that are aimed at promoting anti-communism and anti-fascism.

Effects of Japanese Economic Rise and Japanese wave on Comics[]

The effects of the Japanese Economic Rise and Japanese wave have been mixed. Some youth have distanced themselves from Western comics and instead turned to Japanese manga. Other youth have resisted the Japanese wave and continue to read Western comics. This has resulted in a split in the comic book market. Some stores now dedicate themselves exclusively to Japanese manga, while other stores continue to carry Western comics. This has created competition between Japanese and Western comics that didn't exist before the Japanese economic rise and Japanese wave.

As of 2010s, Japanese Mangas dominate the industry internationally following the Japanese wave. The closest post-Cold War competition, Western comics, and Manhwa (만화) (Korea) are more domestic in scale.
