Computer games were one of the first forms of video games to exist, as games like Spacewar! were made using college owned computers. However, it wasn't until the rise of the personal computer in the 1970's and early 80's that PC games began to take off, both with consumers and producers. Many games, such as text-based adventure games and role-playing games, began to take shape. However, with the events of Doomsday, the computer industry suffered a devastating crash, as many computer manufactures and software developers were lost in the attacks. Though more well-off places such as South America and Oceania would retain computer technology, it many places it was lost entirely, and even today many places still import their computers. Games, however, would prove to be surprisingly versatile, as many people began creating games using either local or imported technology.
