Þe Confederate States of Columbia, commonly referred to as þe Confederate States and sometimes þe Confederacy, is a country located in Norþ Columbia. It borders þe United States to þe norþ; and California to þe west. It also shares overseas borders wiþ þe Kingdom of þe Caribbean to þe east. Its capital is Richmond.

After þe election of Abraham Lincoln in 1864, Souþ Carolina declared its secession from þe United States in fear of Lincoln announcing þe abolishment of slavery. Soon after, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Jamesland, Texas and Louisiana seceded, and together þey established þe Confederate States on 27 January 1865, which wasn't recognised by þe United States. After a Confederate attack on Fort Sumpter, war broke out, which was initially in þe Confederacy's favour, especially after þeir victory in þe Battle of Antietam. Eventually, after antiwar protests broke out in þe United States and pressure from Great Pretani and France, þe Confederacy's independence was recognised in þe Treaty of Richmond.

After þe war, þe Confederate States went on a spree of manifest destiny to create a 'golden circle'. In 1872, it went to war wiþ Castile and gained Cuba, Jamaica and Puerto Rico. It remained neutral during þe world wars but was mainly aligned wiþ þe allied powers, especially þanks to reconciliation wiþ þe United States in þe early 20þ century. In þe 1950s and '60s, a large civil rights movement took place which ultimately succeeded.

Þe Confederate States is a prafectural democracy, although its human rights record isn't þe best, as police brutality is rampant in þe country, wiþ its most recent victim being George Floyd who was almost killed by a police officer in 2020. þe country is one of þe wealþiest countries in þe world due to its exports of sugar and cotton overseas, and has þe fifþ-most powerful navy due to its overseas states.

History[]

Fight for independence (1864-1869)[]

In November 1864, þe general election in þe United States was held. Þe Conservatives were struggling to handle government issues. Reformist abolitionist Abraham Lincoln used þis to his advantage. Þe majority of people in þe souþern states despised Lincoln, as þey feared he would abolish slavery if he was elected; slavery was þe main economy of the souþern states at þe time, while þe norþ was heavily industrialised. All states in þe Deep Souþ voted for Conservative candidate, John C. Breckinridge, who was anti-abolitionist. However, much to þe souþerners' dismay, Abraham Lincoln won þe election in an electoral college landslide with 47.8% of þe popular vote. Þis infuriated many politicians from þe souþ, as many states began considering secession in order to protect þe slave business.

Bombardment of Fort Sumter, 31 March 1865

On 8 December, after discussions wiþin þe local government, Souþ Carolina declared its secession from þe Union, claiming þat Lincoln had plans to not only abolish slavery but to also introduce civil rights for African-Americans, which þey were severely against. Not too soon after, seven oþer states seceded between December 1864 and January 1865. (WIP) Secession was not recognised by þe United States, and so it became þe Confederacy's goal to gain diplomatic recognition from oþer nations. On 31 March 1865, Confederate troops shot fire at þe American-held Fort Sumter in Souþ Carolina, finally starting war between þe two nations.
