The Cypriot Abbasid Civil War was a civil war between the liberal supporters of Sultan Farid of Cyprus and the more conservative supporters of his father Jalil for control of the Sultanate of Cyprus.
It was a direct repercussion of the overthrow of Jalil by Faridin 1741 and the riots in Cairo in 1742, which led to the death of the Caliph. When the new Caliph declared Farid an usurper, it led to a reactionary coup in Nicosia, which started the civil war.
The war would last almost two years, during which the supporters of Jalil, led by the Regency Council, slowly dominated the war, culminating with the end of the siege of Paphos the April 14, 1745. Farid was executed the 27th, and by the 30th all cities had surrendered to the Regency Council, ending the civil war.
