Cyrenaica was the name of the historical region of the former nation of Libya. When the region was conquered between 1986 and 1988, the name was retained as the name of a new satellite nation by the conquerors, the Greek nation of Morea. Cyrenaica became a member state of the Greek Federation in 2009.

Government and Politics

Cyrenaica is a constitutional monarchy in that the monarch's powers are clearly described in the state's constitution. Unlike most constitutional monarchies, the King of Cyrenaica regularly executes his executive power

Organization

The government of Cyrenaica is divided into three branches: the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The executive branch is the monarch. He has the power to propose and veto legislation, and determines the official policy of the state within the Greek Federation. The legislative branch is the Senate. It is a gathering of elected representatives and is responsible for drafting and voting on legislation, and handling day to day administration of the state. The judicial branch is responsible for interpreting legislation, and enforcing laws.

Foreign Relations

Cyrenaica is a state of the Greek Federation and as such has no power to determine its own foreign policy. It does have strong ties with the state of Morea, due to its history as a client kingdom of the former independent nation.

Cyrenaica has recently open relations with Egypt over oil fields in the south of former Libya, Egypt will mine the oil and control the land and Egypt will also build an oil line to transport oil to the town of Ras Lanuf which is to the west of the capital city, any oil revenue will go to the Cyrenaican government.
