Austria-Hungary (1871–1872)[]

Czech people, same as all Slavs in Austria-Hungary, wanted to federalize the empire. They used the opportunity in Austro-Hungarian involvment into First Balkan War. After defeat Austria-Hungary by Russia, Czechs got independence, even when they didn't want to.

After treaty of Wrocław, Bohemian Republic, ruled by František Palacký, got independence with regions of Bohemia, Moravia and most of Austrian Silesia. But Czech people weren't prepared for being independent (even Palacký wanted Czechia staying part of Austria), and in border regions with German Empire started Germans to riot. After Palacký's death in 1876, Bohemian Republic fell into anarchy, and, to prevent civil war, united back with Austria.

Because of breakup of former Austrian Empire, king of Austria Franz Joseph I. agreed with federalization of new born Austria-Bohemia.…
