David Ben-Gurion, Hebrew דָּוִד בֶּן-גּוּרְיוֹן (born as David Josef Grün on October 16th, 1886 in Płońsk, then Congress Poland, Russian Empire) is a Jewish Politician.
Ben-Gurion emigrated to Palestine in 1906 and landed in Jaffa on the 7th of September. Here, he participated in building up the Jewish Underground organisation HaSchomer.
In the First World War, he advocated raising a Jewish Bataillon for the Ottoman Army, since he expected a Turkish victory. But the Ottomans deported him to Egypt, and he went to the USA.
In 1918, he returned to Palestine, which became a British Mandate now. There, he became first Secretary and head of the labor union Histadrut, founded in 1920. Also, he was one of the most important leaders of the left-zionist Party Achdut haAwoda. Furthermore, he participated in building up Haganah, the military Arm of Zionism in Palestine. In 1930, his Party joined the zionist-socialist party Mapai. In 1935, he was elected head of the Jewish Agency.
In New York City, he had married Paula Munweis, with whom he has three Kids.
