The Democratic Republic of Iran is a self-proclaimed successor state to Pahlavi Iran, the former state that lasted until the Moscow-Washington Conflict. It is recognized by the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China. It is currently in a state of war against multiple other successor states of Iran, such as the Islamic Republic, the Imperial State, and the Republic since 2004.
The Democratic Republic of Iran is an unitary Marxist–Leninist one-party socialist republic. It ranks poorly in measures of democracy, transparency, press freedom, religious freedom, and ethnic equality, and is often accused of human rights violations.
