Donald John Trump (June 14, 1946 - February 12, 1996) was an American media personality, and businessman.
Trump received a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. His father made him president of the family real estate business in 1971. Trump renamed it the Trump Organization and reoriented the company toward building and renovating skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. After a series of business failures in the late 1990s, he launched side ventures, mostly licensing the Trump name.
Trump ran for the presidency during the 1996 election cycle. After winning the Iowa primary, Trump was assassinated.
1996 presidential campaign[]
Trump announced his presidential run on July 4, 1995, quickly becoming a leading figure among polls. The following year, on February 12, Trump won the Iowa caucus, winning 24% of the vote. On the same day, he held a speech to celebrate his victory. Around five minutes into his speech, Trump was shot several times by ??. He was pronounced dead upon arrival. The Iowan delegates later pledged towards Carroll A. Campbell Jr., who would secure the Republican nomination and ultimately lose to Al Gore.
