Map of the Nations considered to be a part of “East Africa”, and the ones also included in the initiative, with the coastal states being the most prosperous from the EATI (though Eritrea was expelled in 2016 due to the start of the Eritrean Bush War.)

The Chinese East African Trade Initiative is a policy of trade relations and a full on economic alliance/organization later in 2009. The policy was announced in August 21, 2008, and has seen great success, with economists reporting seeing major growth in East African countries over the past few years ever since 2008. The EATI has been central part in Sino-African Cooperation.
