East Alaska, colloquially referred to as the Alaska(n) Panhandle, is one of the eight provinces of Canada. It was admitted on April 1, 1875. Its capital is St. Basil and its largest city is Birobiylovsk.
In many places, the international border runs along the crest of the Canadian-Russian Boundaries of the Coast Mountains (A Border Agreement Created by the British Empire & Russia in 1903). The region is noted for its scenery and mild, rainy climate.
East Alaska, as its name suggests, lays east of the Russian Republic of Alaska. It is further bordered by the territories of Baranov and Nunavut to the northeast, and the provinces of Alberta to the southeast and MacDonald to the south. It is bounded by the Pacific Ocean on the west and the Arctic Ocean on the north.
