East Russia (Russian: Восто́чная Россия), officially the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (Russian: Российская Советская Федеративная Социалистическая Республика), is an independent federal socialist state that started from the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1982. It has its capital in Omsk. East Russia is widely regarded by historians as the direct continuation of the Soviet Union, or the last Soviet state.
In addition to bordering West Russia to the west, East Russia borders the nations of Uzbekistan and Chagatai to the southwest, Uyghuristan and Mongolia to the south, Manchuria, Korea and Japan to the southeast, and Canada to the east.
