Edward V (25 February 1475 - c April 1483) was King of England from 9 April 1483 until 24th April 1483. Edward V was the grandson of Richard III - born as the son of Edmund, 4th Duke of York and Earl of Rutland and Isabel Neville, and the nephew of Edward IV. Upon his uncle's death, he legally ascended to the English throne. However he was never crowned in his brief reign. Edward V - journeying from York with his maternal grandfather, Richard Neville 1st Duke of Warwick, 16th Earl of Warwick - had been seized by forces loyal to Elizabeth Woodville (his uncle's paramo8ur but de facto queen). The young king was believed to have been murdered shortly afterwards, and Edward IV's illegitimate eldest son, Edward of Rivers was instead crowned Edward V in his place.

Edward V's uncles, Richard of Gloucester and Edward Neville, 2nd Duke of Warwick, would battle the Woodville faction to free Edward V, though by July of 1483 it was clear the young king was dead, his remains found in a shallow grave at the Tower of London. Although originally willing to spare the lives of the Rivers siblings, upon finding his nephew dead, the now Richard IV would have the entire Woodville family executed for treason and murder. Edward V would be remembered as a tragic victim of Edward IV's witch.
