Edward Wilmot Blyden (3 August 1832 – 7 February 1912) was a Sierra Leone Creole and Americo-Liberian educator, writer, diplomat, politician in Liberia and Sierra Leone and the 6th and 9th Governor of Liberia, serving from 1883 to 1891 and from 1903 to 1907. Because Blyden was an intellectual force in both Liberia and Sierra Leone, historians regard him as both a Sierra Leone Creole and an Americo-Liberian.
