The Empire of Hispania is an empire made up the Kingdom of Spain, and all her held extant territories, protectorates, and Colonies. The Empire itself formed following the dynamic rise of the Crown of Castile and its reconquest of the Spanish peninsula from the Muslim Berbers and Moors over centuries. Following these conquest the people of Castile pushed toward not only unifying into Spain but continuing the Reconquista overseas into Muslim Territory. After nearly 70 years the Spanish took the whole of Morocco and made it into a Christian kingdom wiping out a large amount of the populace in the process. Following this Castile embarked on an aggressive period of Colonization which ended in the conquest of several native states in Hesperia and Borealia and the subjugation of others into territories of the empire. The Period of Aggressive colonization was most marketed as an ability for a new life and to make more of yourself however in Europe Castile expansion continues. The Spanish People finally after the Italian declaration of War brought about the formation of the Kingdom of Spain and the Empire in one fell swoop taking most of Italy for the Empire and creating it in general.

1500s[]

In the Early 1500's the Empire was formed following its conquest of Italy and its successful claim to the throne. With the Empire dealing with little to no internal issues within the empire and relative support and expansion within its colonies, Hispania was relatively prosperous and was one of Europe's most dynamic powers alongside France and Albion. Having Europe's largest economy brought Hispania to the forefront of all nations eyes when considering a conflict even bringing large African empires such as Oyo to reconsider meddling in her sphere of influence.

Following a rather large conflict with the massive Oyo Empire its territories were split among the victorious European colonial empire most particularly France, Spain, and Britannia. While the first foray into colonialism of a major African state the war and its aftermath worked extremely well while also validating Spain's colonial ambitions. With this, the Spanish colonialism throughout Africa continued in earnest but outside of the colony along the tip of South Africa any real settlements remained small and isolated to trade posts and forts that were used to keep watch on the various claims, and subjects of the empire.

With the real future lying in the colonization of Borealia and Hesperia, the Newly Formed empire under the long reigning Empress Alexis continued its push to colonize and claim vast territories of the new continents. The Spanish Settlements originally limited to the coast of the Hesperia just below Vorlyacor (a Spanish created buffer state between Portuguese Brazil and New Spain) began a large expansionist campaign across the southern tip of the continent with areas such as Uruguay, and Patagonia being settled vastly as well as New Spain's chief city of Buenos Aires.

The Spanish colonialism, funded by literal mountains of gold from the new world, pressed on and following expansion across the continents of Hesperia and Borealia in the east the Second true Viceroyalty of the empire was founded with New Granada founded in the Bay of San Francisco. Being the lesser of the two colonies, the colony suffered dramatic population shortages and was not relatively well colonized until the dawn of the next century with only San Francisco being a major port and crux of the Spanish Global network

1700s[]

In the War of the Grand Coalition (1737-1749), the Hispanian Empire was defeated in an extremely long war. As a result, Hispania was forced to pay large war indemnities and cede all of its overseas empire. Additionally, the Kingdom of Navarre (which had broken free in 1738) was recognized as independent, as was Aragon, which was released as pro-French state. As a result, large cities such as Bilbao, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Burgos, and Valencia, were lost.
