England, officially the Commonwealth of England, is a sovereign state in Western Europe on the British isles. It borders Wales and Cornwall to the west; and Northumbria to the north. London is the de-jure capital of the kingdom, but due to radiation still being high in certain levels, Sheringham is the de-facto capital at the moment, although plans are being made to move back to London by 2030, when all radiation in the city has been reduced to habitable levels.
Prior to its unification in thee 10th century, England was under the rule of the Roman Empire before Germanic rebellions led to the Romans being forced away from the isles. In 927, the English kingdoms unified to create the Kingdom of England. In 1066, William of Normandy conquered England and became King of the nation. In 1707, England unified with Scotland to form the Kingdom of Great Britain, and Ireland joined the union in 1801. After Ireland left the union in 1922, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was the main system until the outbreak of the Moscow-Washington Conflict in 1968, when the country was hit by several nukes. Following the exile of the monarchy to the northern Scottish islands, the neo-fascist National Front declared the Commonwealth, and while not claiming the entire British isles, the republic aspires to reclaim the former territory of the United Kingdom.
