FIFA World Cup, 2010 it was the 19th edition of the Cup, which took place from June 11th to July 11th. The event was held in Spain. 32 national teams were qualified to participate in this edition of the championship, 13 of them being European, 9 American, 5 African, 5 Asian (including Australia) and 1 oceanic. The 2010 Edition was the tenth European venue, and the second time that a country in the Iberian region was hosted, the first being in 1982 in Spain itself. With an estimated cost of over $8.2 billion, it was the most expensive World Cup until the 2018 World Cup.
In the final, Uruguay defeated European champions Germany 1-0 in overtime with a goal by Cavani. Uruguay became champion after 60 years without winning, being the world champion the longest without winning another cup. Spain was the selection with the best defense, with only 2 goals, making Iker Cassilas chosen as the tournament's best goalkeeper. On June 15, in the match between Mexico and England, there was the first official goal using the system.
With 5 goals, David Villa became the best top scorer at the World Cup, tied with Suarez with 5. Diego Forlán won the tournament's best player award, nearly tying Thomas Müller (who was 21 at the time).
