The FIFA World Cup,2018 international football tournament played by men's teams and took place between 14 June and 15 July 2018 in Germany. It was the 21st FIFA World Cup, a world football tournament held once every four years. It was the ninth time that the championship was held in Europe. With an estimated cost of more than US $ 11.2 billion, it was the most expensive World Cup to date.
The finals involved 32 teams, of which 31 went through qualifying competitions, while the host nation Germany qualified automatically. Of the 32, 23 had also appeared in the 2014 competition, while both Nicaragua and Finland made their first appearances at the Worlds. 64 games were played at 10 locations in 10 cities. Title-winning Brazil was eliminated in the quarterfinals against the North Korea. The host nation, Germany, was eliminated in the Final against Argentina. In the final, Argentina came around the hosts, Germany on July 15, at the Allianz Arena Stadium in Munich. Argentina won the game 2-0 to win their third World Championship.
Runner-up England failed to qualify for the World Cup after losing 1-0 to Finland in the Second Round of FIFA World Cup Qualifying. France ends up soon being eliminated in the first phase after finishing third with 2 goals less than Switzerland

Germany was chosen as the host for the 2018 World Cup in the 2009 draw in Japan. Before the result it was: Peru and Ecuador, United States and Germany, Germany ended up winning by 9 votes, with 2 difference for the United States, Then the draw went to round 2 and Germany ended up winning.

For the first time in the history of the FIFA World Cup, all eligible nations - the 209 FIFA member associations, except Germany, the automatically qualified host - have signed up to participate in the qualification process.
Of the 32 nations qualified to play at the FIFA World Cup,2018 , 23 countries competed at the previous tournament in 2014. Both Nicaragua and Finland qualified for the first time, with the former becoming the smallest country in terms of population to reach the World Cup.

Quarter-finals[]
The World Champion, Netherlands, was the big favorite of the game in comparison with Upset North Korea.Both reached the round of 16 winning with a difference of 1 goal. North Korea had arrived for the first time in the quarterfinals, while the Netherlands arrived with the nickname ''orange machine''.
At the end of the first half, Arjen Robben opened the scoring. The Netherlands scored with a very big advantage until at the end of the second half North Korea tied with a goal by Han Kwang-song. The match went into overtime until in the 112th minute, Ri Yong-jik turns after a header. Van persie tried to equalize but missed the goal.For the first time North Korea had reached the semi-finals, and the first Asian team to reach the semis.

The tournament's third-place contest was marked as the ''best zebra contest'' (if referring to the two teams). Venezuela, which reached a semi-final for the first time, was considered the favorite of the match. Venezuelan President Juan Guaidó participated and witnessed the match.
In the first half, the whole match gave 0-0, where there were only 3 shots on goal. For the second half on 50 minutes Rondón scored a header. 6 minutes later, they scored the cross, giving 2-0. In the 60th minute, Veneuzela scored the third goal, 11 minutes later came the fourth, thus becoming the biggest rout in the history of Venezuela in world cups. In the 88th minute, North Korea scored a goal of honor by Pak Kwang-ryong.

The 2018 World Cup Final took place on July 15, 2018. For the third time, the final of a World Cup is decided between Germany and Argentina, the two played in a final in 1986 and 1990. Being 1986 victory for Argentina and 1990 victory for Germany. The match was the most popular, with 74,000 fans inside Germany headquarters, being mostly German fans (with 43,000).
The match went to overtime, at 106 minutes, Mascherano ended up scoring the first goal, 7 minutes later Messi scored the goal to close the game. Lionel Messi ended up making his 9th goal, being the greatest artilleryman of the World Cup.
