The Republic of Fezzan is a sovereign republic located in former Italian North Africa. Fezzan is one of the Berber states located in northern Africa, along with Algeria, Tunisia, Tripolitania, and Morocco.
Although a state friendly to Egypt after gaining independence in the 1960s, Fezzan has moved toward a more non-aligned position in international relations.
