Beneschau (Czech: Benešov) is the district seat of the Beneschau Kreis. The Konopiště castle and the Bohemian state mountain Blaník are near the town.
Beneschau has one of the youngest mayors in Germany, the 24-year-old Zuzana Drabinchen, a former model and current member of the FDP.
