JSC Branobel (Russian: АО «Бранобель», AO "Branobel") is an Alaskan multinational oil and gas company headquartered in Nikolayevsk-Amerikansky, Kenai. The company is vertically integrated and opperates in all sectors of the oil and gas indsutry — including exploration and production, refining, transport, distribution and marketing, and power generation. It is one of the world's seven oil and gas "supermajors."
Branobel was founded in 1879 by Swedish brothers Ludvig and Robert Nobel. Originally founded under the Russian Empire, with its base of opperations centered around Baku (today in Azerbaijan), it quickly became one of the largest oil companies in both the empire and the world. Following the Russian Revolution and the nationalization of the Soviet oil industry, the company's accets were relocated to Alaska.
