Burgundy (Fidem Pacis)

The Kingdom of Burgundy at its greatest extent

Burgundy (Arpitan: Bourgonde, Lyonnaise: Bourgogne, Occitan: Burgundia, Italian: Burgundia) is a historic region in western Europe, currently divided between Aquitaine, Lyonesse, Italy and the Swabian Confederation. The area formerly comprised a single state, the Kingdom of Burgundy, which was at various times in its history subject to Aquitaine, Lyonesse, Spain and the Holy Roman Empire, but also spent long periods independent. In its later years it lost the valuable coastal province of Provença and rapidly declined from then on, ultimately being dismembered and divided between surrounding countries while under Aquitanian occupation during the First World War.
