The Emperor or Empress of Spain (Spanish: Emperador o Emperatriz de España) is the ceremonial head of state of Spain. The title was established after the unifcation of Spain by Sancha I of Castile and Leon.
Since the establishment of the title, Spain has only once been conquered and occupied. Felipe I, who ruled as Emperor in the 16th century was in fact a puppet of Céline de Valence after his realm was conquered, and he answered to her directly.
