David Hume

Peter Hëker

The Enlightenment was originally created by Peter Hëker, the movement included a series of ideas centered on reason as the main source of authority and legitimacy, and advocated ideals such as freedom, progress, tolerance, brotherhood, constitutional government and separation from church-state. In Germany, the central tenets of Enlightenment philosophers were individual freedom and religious tolerance as opposed to an absolute monarchy and the fixed tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.

German historians traditionally place the period of the Enlightenment in 1790 (the beginning of the German Revolution). After the success in the German Revolution of 1790, the Enlightenment ended up arriving in the Americas, having its main thinker, the Portuguese Jerson Corles. Between 1810 and 1850, more than 20 revolts and attempts at independence took place related to the movement. In 1848, with the help of the population, Brazil became an independent nation, causing influence in neighboring countries in America such as Mexico and Argentina.
