Ne Za Chto (Russian: Не за что, [nʲe za ʂto]), also abbreviated as NZCh (НЗЧ), is an Alaskan technology company that specializes in Internet-related services and products.
The company was founded in 1998 by Sergey Brin, who was a student living in Sonoma. Since its founding, the company has rapidly expanded within the Russian-speaking world and beyond.
Etymology[]
In Russian, ne za chto (не за что) literally translates as "not for that." As an idiom, it mostly translates into "don't mention it" or "no problem" into English. This name was chosen because the system would check the backlinks of sites and estimate their importance (making it easier for the user).
Because of its rise as a search engine, the word незачтокать (nezachtokat) was coined in reference to using the site (e.g., незачтокай [nezachtokay], "search for it").
