New York (NY) is a state located in the northeast region of the United States, admitted to the Union on July 26, 1788. It shares land borders with the Canadian province of Ontario to the north and west, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont on the east, and New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and South New York to the south.
