Nova Scotia (NS) is a state located in the northeast region of the United States, admitted to the Union on July 27, 1815. It shares a land border with the Canadian province of New Brunswick to the west, and a maritime border with Maine to the southwest. It is one of six US states to not be connected to the US mainland, the others being Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo, and Mariana Islands.
