Punjab is a secular and religiously very diverse country and is religious freedom as there has been since Ranjit Singh united Punjab as the Sikh Empire. The major religions are Sikhism, Islam, Hinduism and Christianity. You'll find a large amount of Sikhs, Muslims, and Hindus all over the nation but the western part is predominantly Muslim, with a large Sikh minority, the centre of the nation, where most the population resides, is predominantly Sikh, with Hindu and Muslim minorities, the east is predominantly Hindu, with a large Sikh minority.

The first religions of Punjab were Buddhism and Hinduism, in the 8th century Islam arrived and eventually replaced Hinduism as the predominant religion, though a large percentage still followed Hinduism, whilst Buddhists became a very small minority. Sikhism was founded in the 14th century by Guru Nanank Dev Ji in Punjab. Sikhism became the largest religion of Punjab with very large Muslim and Hindu minorities.

The flag of Punjab includes symbols of Sikhism (Khanda), Islam (Star and crescent), and Hinduism (Om), but there has been a movement to add the Christian cross on the flag.

The current religious demographics are as followed:
