The 57th Californian federal election was held on 6 November 2018 to elect the members of the 57th Parliament of California. At this election, all 135 seats of the Californian House of Representatives and 42 of the 84 seats in the House of Councillors were contested. The governing Coalition (composed of the Democratic, Progressive and Green Parties) under incumbent ChancellorBernie Sanders of Cochimia competed against the Liberals under incoming leader Susan Brooks of Cascadia. The election resulted in both the Democrats and Liberals losing seats to the Progressive and Conservative Parties: the Democrats lost five, while the Liberals lost three. While the Progressives thereby strengthened their position within the Coalition, the Coalition government's majority was reduced slightly after the election.
