Superior (SU) is a state located in the Great Lakes Region of the United States that shares its sole land border with Wisconsin to the south and maritime borders with Michigan across the Mackinac Strait to the south and the Canadian province of Ontario to the east-northeast.
Admitted to the Union as the 35th state on April 20, 1858, the state is a relatively popular tourist destination, as well as a major source of timber and even moderate amounts of copper and iron from local clean mines. Superior's Huron Mountains, specifically the 5300-foot Mount Arvon, are host to a series of ski resorts, popular with both locals and year-round tourists due to both the height of the mountains and the monthly lake effect snows.

Notable residents[]
- Charles Himer (1940-1976) – born in Ishpeming in Marquette County in April 1940, Himer was a notorious serial killer who confessed to brutally murdering thirty-seven people across the nation from the summer of 1956 to the fall of 1972. Also known as "Charlie" or "Charlie the Ripper", he was put to death by hanging at the Crystal Falls Federal Penitentiary in Iron County on June 8, 1976.
