Finland gained independence in the early days of 1900. The independence was won at a conference between the Finns and Swedes. Finland has always wanted independence but not fully since the end of the Russo-Swedish border conflicts. Sweden granted their independence on January 16th, 1900, in return for Finland independence being guaranteed and Sweden getting military access from Finland. This ended in looking like a mutual aggression pact.
