The French Republic, also known as the French Sixth Republic, is a nation located in Western Europe.
The current constitution was formed in the aftermath of WW3. During the the Nuclear Exchange, France was hit by Nuclear Weapons multiple times, including:
- Paris
- Marseilles
- Lyon
History[]
Despite losing its three largest cities France was not hit as hard as America. There were many french rump states during the 90's. Most reunited during the 90s but Corsica elected to stay independent and others decided it was in there best interest to join Switzerland
Education[]
The French Educational System was reasonably centralised before the war. With Paris nuked, the initial provisional governments had to take charge of education. After reunification, education was put in the hands of the states, but there are some guidelines set by Strasbourg that the states have to follow.
Economy[]
France's economy was devastated when the headquarters of many French companies got destroyed during World War III. New companies have risen, mainly in the fields of food processing, textiles, chemicals, machine tools and wood products. Although Airbus headquarters survived the war, the company went dormant, until being revived by the government in 2008. Also, although the Renault car company was destroyed along with the Paris Metro Area. A new car company bearing the name of the famous French automobile manufacturer was formed in 2012 outside of Clearmond Fernand.
International Relations[]
France is a member of the second Europe community. There is some resettlement at Switzerland for annexing the French Alps but relations remain cordial.
Transportation[]
The French TVG was the fastest train in the world, but it was blown up during WW3. Other French trains survived the nuclear strikes. Due to several important rail centers being nuked, the French National railway network was forcibly broken into several independent systems. The French Republic is currently trying to reconnect the portions of railroad that survived the war.
Media[]
Before reunification a few French rump states had restored radio broadcasts. TV broadcasts returned to France in 2006.
Government[]
France is a federal semi-presidential republic made up of eight provinces. Elections have been held every five years since 1998. The other two coalitions in the government are the center-left Progress Union led by the Socialist Party and the center-right Republic Front led by the United Republican Party.
