The Free Russian Republic (Russian: Свободная Российская Республика) is a transcontinental country in Eastern Europe and North Asia and is recognized by the United Nations as the successor to the former Russian Federation. It was given full independence on 12 June 2015 with the signing of the Treaty of Reykjavík which formally ended the Third World War.
Politics[]
Russia is a federal republic modeled after the United States government with three branches of government: executive, legislative, and judicial. The president is now limited to two terms regardless if consecutive or not while the office of prime minister was declared extinct in favor of a new vice presidency. Equal representation also became more prominent then under the previous Russian government.
Anthem[]
As part of the process of "De-Putinization", the "State Anthem of the Russian Federation" was deemed unacceptable due to the fact that it was Vladimir Putin who brought back the old Soviet hymn and "The Patriotic Song" had once again become the anthem of Russia this time with lyrics. Eventually the very musical composition from the old Soviet hymn was officially outlawed by the Russian Government.
Economy[]
Russia was in a state of economic depression for years due to the war with NATO, the sanctions put into place by most of the world during said conflict, and the subsequent NATO-led Allied occupation. The war reparations which included Russia having to practically give away oil and gas per the Treaty of Reykjavik hurt their economy even further. There is currently a growing support for integrating Russia into the Euro zone.
Defense[]
The Self-Defence Forces of Russia (Силы Cамообороны России) are the unified military forces of Russia. Among the first acts of then President Grigory Yavlinsky was to push the legislature into eliminating the Russian military as an offensive force and making it strictly limited to defense. The SDFRC are significantly weaker then the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation due to more then one million Russian military personnel being killed in the war and most equipment being lost. However as the Free Russian Republic continued to prove itself trustworthy, the United States began supplying it with military hardware and vehicles though typically a generation behind.
