The French presidential election, 2012 was held on 22 April and 6 May 2012. As no candidate won a majority in the first round, a runoff was held between the top two candidates, the incubent president, Ségolène Royal of Socialist Party (PS) and Marine Le Pen of the National Front (FN), which Ségolène Royal won by a decisive margin
