Gerald Rudolph Ford (July 14, 1913 - December 26, 2006) was an American actor and politician who served as the 41st President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. A Republican, Ford previously served as served as the leader of the Republican Party in the House of Representatives, and then as the 42nd vice president of the United States from 1974 to 1977.
He would defeat his Democratic Challenger Ted Kennedy in the 1976 Presidential Election in an 303-235 Electoral Vote and succeeded Incumbent President Richard Nixon. Ford would not run again in 1980 and would endorse Governor Reagan in 1980 with a higher result then 1976 with Reagan defeating Governor Carter after securing a 401-137 Electoral Vote.
