The German Empire or simply Germany is one of the largest nations in Europe and one of the three World Powers, alongside the U.S. and China.
It is currently headed by Empress Victoria I, who after her father's murder by Islamist terrorists, has declared war on terrorism.
Geography[]
Germany is located in central Europe, bordering Denmark to the north, the Second French Empire to the southeast, the Kingdoms of Belgium and the Netherlands to the west, the Italian Republic to the south and Poland and Hungary to the east.
The German Empire is unique in that each of the states composing it has its own monarch, though all of them are considered to be beneath the German Emperor/Empress of the House of Hohenzollern-Habsburg.
Politics[]
Germany is a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy. Unlike most constitutional monarchies however, the emperor has great political power and influence. Her/His power is comparable to that of the president in a presidential-style republic. Moreover, the German monarch has control over the armed forces and the German secret service (BND) answers directly to him, not the Chancellor, even though the latter is the one who appoints the directors of BND. The Emperor/ess has the power to appoint and dismiss government chancellors after a vote of no confidence from the Reichstag.
Most of the day-to-day operations are done by the Chancellor, who is appointed by the monarch. That person has to command the confidence of the Reichstag, meaning they must be the leader of the party that has majority there, earned at the general elections.
