The German Empire is a constitutional monarchy in Central Europe.
The German Empire is made up of 26 states. This includes five kingdoms, five grand duchies, five duchies, seven principalities, three free Hanseatic cities, and one Autonomous Region.
History[]
World War I[]
During the Second Moroccan Crisis, the chancellor, Georg von Hertling, was pro-conflict and supported the arms race between Germany and the United Kingdom. Following this, and the breakdown of negotiations, war was not averted. On the 6th of July, Britain and France declared war on Germany and the Great War started.
The German forces enacted the Schlieffen plan, led by Field Marshal Alfred von Schlieffen, and invaded Belgium and Luxembourg. The advance was halted when the retreating French forces dug in and took defensive positions. The started the trench warfare that the war became famous for.
In 1914, the tsar of Russia was overthrown and a new republican government came into power. They asked for a ceasefire in August 1914, and in October, the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed, ending the war on the Eastern Front. In early 1915, the German managed to push through the Anglo-French defences and reached Paris. In June 1915, the French capitulated, with the British following suit in October.
Post-War[]
In the years that followed the world war, Germany established its dominance over Eastern Europe, by creating various client states and creating the Central European Economic Union, which was the predecessor to the modern-day EEU.
Germany also encouraged German businesses in the United States, and became the second largest economic power in the world.
12 Years Of Terror[]
In 1927, Action Française won the election in France, and proclaimed the Kingdom of France. In the early 1930s, Britain, Belgium and Portugal saw a rise in right-wing movements, who quickly became the dominant parties of their respective governments. France began sponsoring right-wing movements in the German Province of Alsace-Lorraine from 1932, the most prevalent of these being the Alsatian Liberation Army (ALA).
