Giggs, whose real name is Nathaniel Thompson, was a British rapper and songwriter born on May 11, 1983. Hailing from Peckham, London, he gained prominence in the UK rap scene for his distinctive deep voice and gritty lyrics. Giggs was known for his contributions to the genre of UK rap and has released two albums, "Walk in da Park" and "Let Em Have It" He's recognized for his streetwise narratives and was influential in shaping the sound of British hip-hop. Giggs was killed in a gang-related shooting in October of 2010. He is considered by many to be part of the 27 Club.
Gang Affiliation[]
Giggs was part of the music group SN1, which was also a set of the Peckham based, Peckham Boys gang, SN1 one meant Spare No-1. The Peckham Boys rapped Black Bandanas, and were known for their feud with the Ghetto Boys, a gang based in neighbouring New Cross, Deptford, and Lewisham. In Giggs' "Talkin Da Hardest" video, many members of the Shoot Instant (YPB) and Pecknarm Young Gunners (YYPB) sets of the Peckham Boys could be seen. The video has amassed over 45 million views on Screeno.
Peckham had an on and off beef with Brixton, since the 1970's, but in 2005/06, the beef was reignited. Brixton based gang such as, Organised Crime (OC) repped Green Bandanas, and fellow Brixton gang, Grind And Stack (GAS Gang), repped Green and Purple.
Death[]
At approximately 11:30 pm on the 17th October 2010, Giggs had left the Unit 10 studio in Peckham, when witnesses state that two masked assailants on a moped pulled up, the passenger wearing a Green Bandana fired 10 shots at the rapper, from a full auto pistol. Giggs ran but was sprayed by the oncoming bullets, and collapsed, the gunman shouted "Fucknarm" then the duo sped off. A green bandana dropped off the face of the shooter, and was left at the scene. He was rushed to hospital but died of his injures 4 hours later on October 18th. Tiny OC member, 'Young Troopz' was arrested for his murder, and was put on trial in April of 2011, but was the case was dropped due to lack of evidence.
