Deputy Lieutenant Governor of New Netherland

The governor of New Netherland is the head of government of the state of New Netherland, part of the United States of Columbia. The governor is not only the head of the executive branch of the state government, but also the commander-in-chief of the state's military forces. It is the governor's duty to enforce the laws of the state and they have the power to either approve or veto bills passed by the Legislature, granting pardons, except in cases of impeachment and treason.

The state of New Netherland was not originally a part of the Anglophone colonies that first started the Columbian Revolutionary War, instead joining them over disputes with the governing Dutch monarchy. Before becoming part of the United States, the territory was administrated by a director, also called director-general. Despite the integration of New Netherland alongside the anglophone states, president Benjamin Franklin blocked many New Netherlander politicians from reaching nationwide offices such as the presidential Cabinet or even the presidency, causing the so-called ''Hall-Mansion split''.

This split later motivated a new policy in the state that rejected European immigration, rather than embracing it like close eastern states with large cities. Franklin D. Rosenvelt, elected in 1929, set ending these policies as the main focus of his tenure, successfully achieving to implement a series of laws that let to his very successor, Thomas E. Dewey to be one of the first Governors with direct English ancestry and to not have Dutch as his first language, setting a trend for the following years.

Since its formation on July 30, 1777, the office has been held by 35 people, with Dick Posthumus as the incumbent Governor and the first to be a part of the Populist Party.
