History[]
Discussions of a unified Russian state to combat the threats of the people began in the 1460s between the Appendages of Moscow and Novgorod after the defeat of the Mongol Hordes. After much debate, the Russian Federation was finally formed in 1482 after the Conquest of Poland-Lithuania by Russia. When Moscow and Novgorod realized that they could not control the Polish-Lithuanian nation for long, decided to offer the Polish King to join and be one of the founders of the Russian Federation. Looking at the total conquest of his nation and the occupation of Warsaw, he agreed. The Treaty of Minsk, the founding document of the Grand Russian Federation, was signed on the 10th of June, 1482.
The first Election for Tsar took place from the 1st and 10th of July, in which the Novgorodian Marpha Borotskaya was elected into office and crowned as the first Tsarina of the Nation (although this was mostly because she basically came up with most of the treaty of Minsk and some electors from the other Russian Federation states kind of owed her one) During her reign the Russian Federation Navy and it was subdivided into the Novgorodian Baltic sea fleet, Novgorodian White Sea Fleet, Polish Baltic Sea Fleet and Muscovite Black Sea Fleet. The Ukrainian Black Sea fleet was created later on not long after its creation. The Tsarina oversaw the creation of a unified fighting force and the appointment of Alexi Sarovsky, her favorite, as Posadnik. The Tsarina oversaw the following of most of the treaty of Minsk's protocols to create a stable Russian state. She was seen as a great leader and advisor.
Shortly after the beginning of what will be known as the great holy war of the 1490s, the Tsarina proposed a resolution to aid the HRE in their war against the Caliphate. In the End, it was decided that the federation would take their chances, and the Tsarina declared war on the Divine Muslim Empire, before abdicating as Grand Princess of Novgorod (and therefore as Tsarina) to tend to her health, and to allow a younger military man to fulfill the role as grand prince and military commander of Novgorod. She died soon after. Within a week of her abdication she had died and a week of mourning was declared. within a day after the end, the Muscovite Grand Prince, Ivan III of Moscow was elected as Tsar Ivan I of Russia.
It took a day for Novgorod to pick its leader, and it chose well, as Afanasi Feodorovich Profeev leads the Russian charge into Caliphate territory. He was heralded as an undefeated General, winning battle after battle and at one point besieging the Georgian capital. the Russian armies, now with one fifth armed with either an arquebuse of a Ruzhenie, were no match for caliphate cavalry and infantry. They made great advances and occupied the Crimean province and Al-Slaviet for more than a year, encouraging immigration into Moscow and Novgorod Russian forces had captured the Black Sea coast up until Anatolia before Papal forces were diminished by time and by cost. However, as pressure on the Western front was weakened, this put more opportunity for the Caliphal armies to put more pressure on the northern front. Afanasi Profeev was shot during the Siege of Tiblisi and returned to Novgorod, only to die of what was ultimately lead poisoning and complications of being shot in the siege in 1500. He left the combined Russian armies under Moscow's command, and the Muscovites proposed to tactically retreat to the borders as the hordes of Muslims grew exponentially. This allowed Russian States to keep their territory after the war. Afanasi Profeev was heralded a hero and an Undefeated General. during his reign the Russian (especially Novgorod) had gained the ability to produce barques...and more.
Having acquired the designs for Chinese treasure ships early on, Novgorodian Shipbuilders were able to replicate them by the end of the war, and had built a single one, the RFNBSFS (Russian Federation Novgorodian Baltic Sea Fleet Ship) Bogatyr and was supposed to be used as a secret weapon against the Caliphate. However the war ended before this could happen. Hearing News of a new continent called Antillia, the Grand Prince of Novgorod sent the Russian Ship Captain Dimitri Boyasin with a fleet of barques and caravels. he ends up in the St Lawrence valley, and lands near OTL Quebec. He describes the landmass he saw as "the shining continent" due to cap diamond's quartz-filled exterior. This quickly became a nickname amongst Russians for the Antillio-Atlantic landmass. Boyasin names the OTL St Lawrence River the Rusalka.
The Russian Navy the built more Bogatyr Ships, and has at 1512 a six in total: the RFNBSFS Bogatyr, the Ilya Muromets, the Dobryna Nikitich, the Alyosha Papovich, the Alexander Nevsky, Gostomysl and the RFMBSFS (Whatever Moscow chooses to name it). Russians have sent various expeditions to the Americas and have even set up a trading post in South Africa. A Cartographical expedition upon the Ilya Muromets to the Americas discovers the Mayan culture, and forms a trade agreement for 100 firearms before continuing. This expedition was the first European civilization to map the entire coast of the Antillio-Atlantic landmass and most of Atlantia. The Russian had a failed trade post in what in OTL is known as Saguenay, but in 1512 has three successful ones: Kvebek (near Quebec), Svyatogorsk (on the southern end of OTL Nova Scotia, ATL Novopskovie), and Nadezhda (OTL Cape Town)
Ivan tragically died in 1510, paving the way for Polish Andrej I to be elected tsar.
Shortly after the establishment of the trading post on the Neo-Pskovian peninsula by the name of Svyatogorsk, another Novgorodian Bogatyr was launched with the name RFNBSFS Svyatogor.
The Russians started colonizing lands and updating military things. Not much happened, Poland colonised some lands, and Moscow attempted to do so as well, even having a Gold Coast colony at one point. In ny case, Russia outlawed slavery in its constitution, and life went on as usual - until the bloody Mahdi and his implausmogasms came.
