Alternative History

Grand Theft Auto V (also known as GTA V or GTA 5) is a video game created by Rockstar Games and is the fourteenth instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series of games. The game is also linked with Grand Theft Auto Online, a game released in October 2013 that takes place in the same setting but shortly before the events of GTA V.

The game is set in modern day Hirakawa and Takata, Kageheiki Prefecture and its surrounding areas. The game is part of the HD Universe, a fictional universe that connects the storylines of GTA IV, The Rising Rage, The Tragedy of Midnight and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars with those of GTA V and GTA Online.

Main article: Radio Stations in GTA V

The Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack, like previous games in the Grand Theft Auto series, features various radio stations that play different genres of music when the player enters vehicles in the game. The stations consist of licensed music, DJ chat and spoof advertising. The game features 18 in-game stations with over 280+ licensed songs (340+ in the PS4 and PC version), 16 of which are musical stations and the other two are talk stations.

As with other recent GTA in-game radio networks, songs, DJ comments and other material are randomly sequenced, and may occasionally incorporate references to in-game events. The DJs also reference the changing weather patterns and the time of day.
