Introduction[]
Greenpeace is a Militant Pacifism organisation, founded in 1940. Its original goal was to "Preserve the Green Earth and let it lay whole in Peace"; to eliminate Nuclear weaponry to stop it ever being used. It was founded by Edgar Taylor, who some suspect to this day of being a Soviet spy.
Involvement with Einstein[]
Greenpeace was first started in coordination with Albert Einstein, who by this point was anti-nuclear. Albert Einstein had been in contact with Edgar Taylor, since Einstein switched his letters involving Nuclear Weaponry from supportive to negative. Edgar over time encouraged Einstein to pursue a militant campaign against the US nuclear project. This came to ahead when, in December 1941 the organisation alongside Einstein blew up a number of US military bases and research centres in relation to the nuclear project. All members directly involved with the attacks were quickly captured, and hung alongside Einstein on the 16th of May 1942 for the crime of treason at a time of war.
Allegations of Soviet Spying[]
During the investigation and court case involving Greenpeace's relation to the attacks, allegations were made that the organisation was a Soviet front to spy, steal and sabotage the United States Nuclear project. The Soviet Union has always denied this, despite the fact that Edgar spent a number of his early life within the Soviet Union.
Growth outside United States[]
Although Greenpeace was virtually eliminated through the capture and hanging of all active members, the Greenpeace movement grew and found activists setting up local co-organisations soon after in the Soviet Union, United Kingdom and Nazi Germany. The organisation's success in the Soviet Union, coming only 2nd in violent action to the original US group makes many believing the Soviet involvement conspiracy a back fire. If it really was a Soviet plan, many analysts suggest they didn't realise the popular support the ideal would have; and didn't predict a home grown Terror group doing the same thing against Soviet attempts to produce Nuclear Weaponry. These groups uphold the Militant Pacifism ideology to this day in their nations modern equivalents.
Splinter in 1980's[]
Due to trouble within the membership of Greenpeace, a number of members broke away from the group citing lack of strong enough activity. They soon formed ATOM, an extremist group advocating the use of a Nuclear weapon as a deterrent of its continued development.
Legal Status[]
Officially, Greenpeace is banned under legislation in all UN member states.
